    Hi,

I'm writing to let you know about an upcoming local textile project which we're very excited to share with you. We are locally based textile artists and have recently been commissioned by Bury Council to work with a team of artists and archivists in the Spirit of a Place: Radcliffe Project. The project explores Radcliffe's industrial and medieval past, teasing out stories, memories and culture. Overall, it aims to celebrate this often overlooked historical town in the form of artwork and storytelling rooted in a memory map that champions the spirit of Radcliffe. To do this, we would love to work with your members in this exciting creative experience.

We will be creating this memory map in the form of a large scale textile piece using quilting, applique and hand embroidery. We'll be holding a number of in-person workshops in Radcliffe and we would love to work with the residents of the town and surrounding area in creating this special community project and warmly invite your members to be involved in workshops. We will be on hand to teach embroidery techniques if needed and the workshops will be open to everyone, from complete beginners to experienced makers. The workshops will be free to attend with all materials provided. We aim to create a welcoming, fun and creative environment where we imagine lots of interesting conversations about Radcliffe to take place and we can record our memories, stories and wishes for the town.

We also hope to facilitate a remote aspect to the project where we can post out materials and instructions for participants to create with and return to us when completed.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Please get in contact if you’d like to be involved in this exciting opportunity and we can add Megastitchers to our growing list of interested groups.

Additionally, if you might be interested in receiving some free sets of materials and instructions for the project for your members to create with remotely, please do let us know.

    Many thanks,
