Guided tours of the Visitor Centre will be available each Saturday during the Exhibition

 

The National Exhibition is held every 2 years to showcase the skills and creativity of members of guilds across the UK.  This year's themes are 'Coal, Cotton and Canals' for selected items and 'Still Waters' for the open, non-juried items submitted in a 6 inch/15cm ring.

 

Leigh Spinners Mill is a working mill and is developing as a thriving Community and Heritage centre, with the area of Leigh being situated approximately 15 miles west of Manchester and 7 miles to the east of the M6, Junction 23.

The Fabric of Flowers

Starting on 19 September, the Gardens Trust is offering a series of 6 online talks about the influence of  flowers and gardens on textile artists.  

The first talk is given by Cynthia Jackson, an expert in Tudor embroidery

Sessions are £5 each but there is a discount for booking the series.

July Meeting - Competitions

 The AGM saw the annual judging of the competitions - Anne Mullins Award for Design and Kathleen Mason Award for Stitch.  The respective winners were Chris, for a piece that wasn't Blackwork,  and  Lynda for her White Quilt. Congratulations to all.

Quilt unveiled

The national u3a chose to unveil their 40th anniversary quilt at the Whitworth Art Gallery on Friday 17 June. Among the winning entries was one from a member of Megastichers and several others from the North West region.

May Meeting - Boro and Bags

 Jean led a workshop aimed at taking the Boro pieces further.  Some members made bags others worked on alternative ideas.  Great fun was had a much was learned. Certain members worked very diligently and achieved excellent results.  Others were left with homework to complete.
